Matcha Okumidori

Established as an official cultivar in 1974, Okumidori boasts a vibrant and invigorating taste. The cultivar’s delightful aroma further enhances its drinkability. The name “Okumidori,” loosely translated as “late green,” stems from the fact that its young shoots take an additional week to sprout compared to Yabukita.
This particular trait makes the Okumidori cultivar exceptionally well-suited for tea farmers managing multiple fields and desiring a diverse range of cultivars. Although originating in Shizuoka Prefecture, Okumidori is now widely cultivated in Kyoto Prefecture. It serves as an excellent choice for producing either sencha or matcha.
Distinguished by its stunning green hue, Okumidori presents a flavour profile that achieves a harmonious equilibrium between umami and astringency.
