Local rapeseed and clear honey from local bees in York!
The bees are kept at two sites nearby; one at Poppleton and another by Rufforth.
They gather nectar and pollen from oilseed rape fields and beans. By the time the trees and hedgerows are in flower there are about 60,000 insects in every hive, bringing in around 36-45 kilograms of pollen per season.
Bees are fantastically efficient at making honey and always make more than they need to survive the winter, thus it is only the surplus that is removed and jarred. The honey is 100% natural with no added ingredients.
