Genmai Cha – Japan

Genmai Cha also written Genmaicha, means natural rice tea.

This very special tea is made blending Bancha leaves with toasted brown rice.
This infusion offers a golden hay coloured cup with light roasted caramel notes with subtle underlying nutty tones.

Genmai Cha’s origins are as a poor peoples tea in Japan. The price was reduced by adding rice to the Bancha which deprecated the value.

Today this tea is enjoyed by all segments of society.
